Purpose:
The purpose of the Nebraska State Personnel Development Grant (NSPDG) proposal is to increase State capacity to provide leadership, professional development, and guidance to schools on improving positive behavior and academic outcomes for students with disabilities and their non-disabled peers through a schoolwide systems change approach. The expected outcomes for the project are:  1) An increased number of schools and districts will receive Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) training and coaching; 2) Schools will develop capacity to provide Tier II and Tier III interventions; 3) Development of an integrated multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) will produce improved student outcomes; and 4) Partnerships across the State of Nebraska will yield a statewide PBIS network.

Method:
PBIS teams will receive professional development across multiple years through training and coaching. Activities include annual Leadership Development Institute attendance, leveled PBIS trainings, targeted training on Tier II and Tier III interventions, and coaching across all PBIS tiers. After year one, pilot sites will be determined to receive coaching and training on a new Nebraska MTSS model. A mixture of quantitative and qualitative methods will be used for evaluation. Evaluation of the project includes fidelity instruments, surveys, pre-post assessments on knowledge, satisfaction surveys, and focus groups.
