Purpose: This project will conduct professional development activities in the areas of reading, math, and positive behavioral supports, all based on a Response to Intervention framework. The aim is to facilitate a statewide network of professional development providers to maximize the reach of professional development efforts.
 
Method: An early childhood component will focus on literacy and behavior outcomes for young children diagnosed with autism. A teacher equity initiative will identify and remedy existing inequities in the distribution of highly qualified special education teachers, ensuring that low-income and minority children with disabilities are not taught at higher rates than other children by unqualified teachers. Woven through the initiatives is a strong emphasis on collaboration with higher education, technology, and family involvement.
