Purpose: This project aims to demonstrate that Response to Intervention (RTI) and School-wide Positive Behavioral Support (SW-PBS) practices are appropriate for all children, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Significant Support Needs (SSN).

Method: Staff implementing the ASD/SSN model programs will be analyzing the students' abilities and areas where they are not progressing with their typical peers. Interventions will be individualized to the student's needs, progress will be monitored on the intervention, and decisions will be made depending on the response to intervention. Existing barriers will be addressed by using SW-PBS and RTI to include students with more significant disabilities. In addition, these initiatives will be paired with ASD/SSN programming to ensure equitable access and participation for children with special needs. Finally, the project will address the potential barrier of age by linking RTI and SW-PBS to Early Childhood Pyramid Model programming so that the youngest children in the state are receiving services in the structured setting they need in preschool and early childhood centers.
