Purpose
The purpose of this project is to improve the skills and knowledge of parents, special education teachers, principals, related services personnel, and paraeducators in utilizing promising research shown to accelerate the academic, developmental, and functional performance of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and children with disabilities, and other struggling learners.  The work is targeted towards children birth to 21 with mild to severe disabilities and children who have not been identified as needing special education services but who need additional academic and behavior support.

Method
The project is partnering with Washington PAVE (Parent Information and Training Center), Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS)-Infant and Toddler Early Intervention Program (ITEIP), Washington Education Association (WEA), Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC), Institutions of Higher Education, Educational Service districts (regional), Local Education Agencies (LEAs), and many other individuals, educational committees, groups, and organizations. The project will develop training materials and modules for school personnel on the State’s early learning benchmarks, screening and diagnostic assessment, and research-based strategies. Professional development will also be provided to improve teachers’ knowledge of the core academic subjects and will include onsite coaching support by RTI experts.
