Purpose The project has developed a targeted system of professional development, the Missouri Integrated Model. This model draws on research from five key sources: Professional Learning Communities; Positive Behavioral Supports; Reading First; Response to Intervention; and High Schools That Work. This integrated model combines common elements of all five models to create a unique professional development system to assist districts in creating a community of learners that includes special and general education teachers, school and district leadership, support staff, students, parents, and the community. This model will be implemented in two districts from each of the nine regions throughout theState. Eighteen total districts will be chosen based on three criteria: need, size, and buy-in. The project will begin in key schools, continue in multiple schools, and finally be implemented district-wide. Additionally, a system will be in place for schools to work with other schools within each district to provide mentoring and collaboration.
